I walked away from Anthem feeling disappointed, and I found refuge in a different cooperative BioWare title: Star Wars: The Old Republic. The main selling point of the game, cooperative play, didn’t influence my Freelancer’s story or how I felt about the world. The narrative was confusing and poorly conveyed through cutscenes, emails, and radio chatter that weren’t connected to the action. One of the issues I heard from players repeatedly when they discussed Anthem was that it just wasn’t what they wanted, or expected, from a BioWare game.

I also see this as a way to encourage players to explore the vastness of the SWTOR universe and complete as many quest chains as possible to acquire these cutscenes.Anthem made only a brief appearance at E3 2019, and it seems like the game is going to be out of the spotlight for some time while BioWare works on retooling the game and addressing player concerns. I think the animators, actors, and artists would appreciate the fact that their works are being enjoyed over again and again. I enjoy the fully voice-acted scenes, the well-scripted dialogue, and seeing my personal avatar perform in the various cinematic sequences. Appreciation: Replaying cutscenes is a great way to appreciate all the hard work that went into developing the game.

Gear that would be worn only for cinematics could potentially cost less too because players would not need to purchase mods for them. Further, I see tremendous synergy with the outfit designer since players could keep one main set of gear for leveling and other, purely aesthetic sets with which to watch cinematics. I want the ability to replay these cutscenes later when my characters have acquired better looking gear so I really get the sense of their magnificence. However, especially at the lower levels, my character may perform some impressive feats (blasting foes with lightning or cutting them down with a lightsaber), but the gear they’re wearing doesn’t quite seem to match the grandeur of their actions. I enjoy seeing them interact with NPCs and I take screenshots whenever I can.

Bioware, if I could have one SWTOR wish, it would be the ability to replay cutscenes.
